The society is pleased to support the following awards with support from membership fees and and sponsorship.

The LAB SUPPLY NZSBMB Award for Research Excellence

This is our premier prize for research excellence, and it is open to all New Zealand based members of the New Zealand Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of at least one year's standing.

The award consists of a $2,000 cash prize.

NZSBMB Travel/CONFERENCE ATtendance Awards

NZSBMB is committed to supporting early career researchers through the award of conference travel grants. We know that travel funding is also scarce for postdocs and technical staff, therefore, we also support for these important members of our community.

NZSBMB Early Career Awards

We are excited to announce the NZSBMB Early Career Award. This award is open to researchers who have graduated with a PhD within the last five years (with consideration for career breaks). Recipients will have the opportunity to deliver an oral presentation at the ComBio2026.

To be considered, candidates should submit an abstract of their proposed presentation at the ComBio 2026 Meeting and their CV in NZRST format to NewZealandSBMB@gmail.com with the subject line, ECR award. Deadline is Tuesday 25th August 2026.
